SMG Europe Highlight Child Safety

SMG Europe is the largest operator of entertainment venues in the United Kingdom and Europe, including three of the leading North East venues; The Metro Radio Arena, Journal Tyne Theatre and PLAYHOUSE Whitley Bay.

With a host of incredible family shows such as the record breaking ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’, ‘Bob the Builder’ and Roald Dahl’s ‘BFG’ plus many more appearing across all venues, child safety during their visit is always our highest priority.

Bob Taylor, Managing Director of customer safety specialists Eventcover, together with SMG’s Metro Radio Arena have spearheaded a new campaign of luminous vests which are given free of charge to all groups of school children attending any of the North East SMG venues, booking a threshold number via our group bookings department.

Paul Tappenden Marketing Director for the North East venues said “Safety is always our number one priority and these vests make each child instantly visible and easily stand out from the crowd, making school trips a much easier and safer exercise for all. The vests, completely free to our young visitors, are then theirs to keep for all further excursions together!”

Callum Kid, Head Teacher at Carr Hill Community Primary School added “In Carr Hill we take every opportunity to enrich children’s learning outside of the classroom. I know these fluorescent vests will help us safeguard our pupils when they are out of school and make it an easier task for teachers to ensure the highest level of care and identify children when we participate in educational visits. Pupils on our school council are grateful to Bob Taylor and Eventcover for sponsoring our school in this way”.
